From the depths of the Velfjordian forests, a scream is echoing the mountainsides.... sounds like...: "HEEELL YEAH".. accompanied by a killer guitar riff manufactured by Rickey Medlocke... eeh.. Yep! That's right! Southern rock- one of the greater goods provided by americans- can now be heard live and kicking in one of the freezing outposts of the world: Velfjord, Nordland County, Norway.
Southern Tribute must be seen as a compliment, and as the name indicates, a tribute to the amazing music written and performed by original bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet and ZZ Top, to name a few.
The band was formed during the winter of 2006 after an initiative from guitarist Børge. There was little or no arguing amongst the others that Southern Rock was something we really wanted to do.
We had one huge problem though, lying in wait for us: to find the time for rehearsals. With one taxi-driver on board, two that were working evenings at the local music school, one consultant for a major Norwegian company, who frequently is away on business-trips, and one schoolteacher who is engaged in everything that has ever been invented, we got on to a slooow start.
But that's all behind us, and now we're on a mission: Southern Rock to the people...
